We are pleased to announce the sale of our beautiful Straight Egyptian Black Arabian Stallion, TH Midnight Rider, to Safari Stud and Burhan Bakeer of Salmiya in Kuwait. Burhan has been collecting some very nice mares including the multiple national award winning Straight Egyptian Dark Bay Arabian mare. PR Desert Rose+/. PR Desert Rose+/ is a US National Champion Mare in Halter, a Canadian National award winner and a Regional winner under saddle! Rose will be Burhan’s first mare that TH Midnight Rider will be bred to and we are excited with the prospects of this cross! Burhan also has some other exquisite crosses for TH Midnight Rider that we will be looking forward to see in the future!

Many congratulations to Burhan Bakeer and Safari Stud on the acquisition of TH Midnight Rider! I wish you the best of luck my friend, and the best of foals!

Two SE yearlings by TH Midnight Rider have returned to the source!

Congratulations to breeder Lawrence Arabians on the sale of chestnut yearling filly Crimson Jewel LA and black yearling colt Midnight Miraj LA. Both of these beautiful Straight Egyptian youngsters left her farm yesterday for their new home in Cairo Egypt. Congratulations also to Hesham El mohandess of Cairo, Egypt on acquiring TH Midnight Rider get.

Alyssa Sullivan on CF Sambucca

Alyssa is a talented young rider that has been schooling with me for three years now, since she was 11 or 12. Before entering my program, Alyssa was over-faced at a show by a previous trainer and as a result lost desire to show.

About three years ago I started training CF Sambucca for Dee Bruce of Chatuge Farms. At first we never thought Sammi would make much of a dressage horse, her gaits were quite flat. Soon enough though this little mare started to surprise me. She picked up leg yield very quickly and within weeks was correctly leg yielding the entire width of a 20×40m arena. Shoulder In also came quick and easy to Sammi, as did travers / renvers, half pass, full pass and turn on the haunches. Sammi soon became one of my favorite school horses. With her excellent mind and kind demeanor she has taught numerous children and adults how to ride. She has also helped to teach more experienced riders how to ride the laterals. With her relatively flat gaits she is smooth and easy to sit.

Then about two years ago Alyssa decided she wished to own Sammi. Or is it the other way around?

Always willing to share her horse with others, Alyssa is a wonderful child that works very hard on her riding. Still I kept hinting that she might wish to get out and show Sammi. Finally this spring I felt she was ready and just needed the final push to get out there, so I told her out of the blue one day… “oh, by the way I entered you and Sammi in next months GDCTA schooling show at Rising Fawn in Ball Ground Georgia”.

So we set to work tidying a few things up and working on a few of the weak areas that needed to be addressed. Sammi is the type of horse who will only do slightly less than you ask and never ever more. So we needed to “motivate” her a little.

Although Alyssa finished just out of the ribbons at her first show, showing Intro A and B, she did break 60% on both tests first time out and I am proud of her accomplishment and how well Sammi the school horse took care of her.

Thank you Alyssa for all your hard work, and for the use of Sammi the school mistress for all my beginners! And thank you also to Alyssa’s parents who have been uber supportive and dedicated to driving Alyssa to the barn on a regular basis. You are raising a great child.

Alyssa, now that you are hooked on showing I expect I will see great things from you in the future!

The Kudzu Klinic program is an opportunity for GDCTA members to participate in low cost clinics which provide instruction of correct basics for lower level riders and their horses. The Kudzu Klinics are made possible by the generous work of professional trainers who volunteer their time and barn owners who donate their facilities for the day. The rider fee goes toward supporting the work of GDCTA.

The clinic format may vary slightly with each clinic, but generally for dressage clinics there will be 5-7 sessions with 1-2 riders per session. Lunch-time Lectures may be given at the clinics. Auditors may sign up at the clinic, but pre-registration would be appreciated so that the lecturer can bring enough material for all participants.

Bring your own lunch, drinks and chair for the lecture.

2006 USDF Pas de Deux National Award Champions!

Big congratulations to Krowchuk Dressage students; Donna Barnes on her Black Purebred Arabian gelding Serr Rafiq and Debi Gilbert on her Black Anglo-Arabian gelding Prince Bashir! This wonderful team won the 2006 USDF (United States Dressage Federation) Pas de Deux National Level Award, besting teams of all breeds. Once again, good solid basics, hard work and determination has proven that the Arabian breed is quite capable in open all breed competition!

On Saturday, September 9, 2006 my students Ulla Strickland on her Purebred Arabian chestnut gelding CF Chernobyll and Suzanne Lauda on her Purebred Arabian chestnut gelding CF Beau Navar performed a demonstration Pas de Deux as entertainment during an exhibitors party for the Poplar Place Farm CCI***, CCI** 3 Day Horse Trials. Competitors from all over the east coast were in attendance and cheered the girls on!

The performance was not without drama, rain threatened all afternoon, a slight drizzle starting during the warmup. The weather held long enough for our team to ride. And ride they did!

As is usual when riding a choreographed freestyle, one has to think ahead as they ride and be prepared to make impromptu decisions when things just don’t go quite as planned. The footing was a bit deeper than what we had been practicing on, adjustments needed to be made on the fly. Since the girls had really only rode this Pas de Deux once before, I was quite pleased with their ability to recognize they were behind the music slightly and made the needed impromptu adjustments.

Congratulations Ulla and Suzanne! A job well done!

We have been invited to perform a demonstration Pas de Deux this Saturday, September 9th, 2006 at 6pm at Poplar Place Farm’s USEA/USEF recognized CIC***, CIC** horse trials featuring divisions Beginner Novice thru Advanced.

Poplar Place Farm is a fabulous eventing facility located about 1.5 hours south of Atlanta, in Hamilton GA. Their website is here!

Purebred Arabian half brothers CF Beau Navar and CF Chernobyll with their German owners Suzanne Lauda and Ulla Strickland will be performing a First Level Musical Freestyle Pas de Deux choreographed and produced by their Dressage coach Chris Krowchuk to the original soundtrack of the German Musical “3 nuts for Cinderella”. We accepted this project just a few weeks ago so I think we are the “3 Nuts” and we are not sure where Cinderella is!

This will be a rather large crowd as this is a huge event, watching us, waiting for their food in the exhibitors party, so I imagine it will be raucous too!

I would like to invite everyone to join us as these Arabian geldings dance for the crowd and promote our breed to the craziest sport horse crowd of all, the Eventers!!
