Lessons

Chris teaching Ulla Strickland of Sharpsburg Georgia and her young gelding C.F. Royal Command.
The Krowchuk Dressage lesson program is based on the centuries old philosophies of the Classical schools. All breeds and all students are welcome, the only requirements are that you have a passion and understanding of the classical art of riding and wish to learn. Dedicated to my students goals, whether they be competition oriented or simply for the art and pleasure of riding, I will customize a program specifically for your needs. For the competitive oriented individuals, coaching and support at shows is available.
A major focus of my lesson program is seat development taught through a series of important lessons on the longeline. Everyone talks about an “independent seat” – I focus on teaching this right from the start. This process teaches my students how to develop a soft, supple, elastic, deep and effective seat. It teaches them how to sit and also why we sit this way. Students learn how to feel for the horses footfalls and then how to affect those footfalls through their seat for clear and consistent communication thereby providing accurate aids. They also learn how to execute transitions, influence the tempo, change the bend and soften the horse into the bridle all through the correct use of the seat.

One of my pet peeves at shows is to see otherwise splendid riders and horses spoil an otherwise excellent test by riding terrible geometry! Circles need to be circles! This simple exercise will teach you how to consistently ride a perfect circle of any size, anywhere, even out in a field without dressage letters and [...]

Counter Patterns are exercises ridden in a fashion that is counter (or opposite) to the norm. Examples include “counter” bending, “counter” canter, “counter” change of hand and the focus of this article, “counter” change of rein into the corner. This is a rather simple exercise and a rather short article, however, the athletic developmental value [...]
